I find it amazing that someone asks for advice and all he gets is sarcasm and bad mouthing. You all speak of tolerance and acceptance, but no one wants to tolerate anyone else's questions. I have three small children, so believe me I know all about questions getting old. I just can't understand why someone has to be treated harshly when asking a question that's already been asked. A friendly point in the right direction would be much more acceptable. Some people have a question like the one above and have been told that it is wrong (ie: raised highly religious). Therefore they are more likely to get in an out quickly whilst not exploring too much due to fear of being seen on this site. We all know that there's nothing wrong with sexuality, but a lot of people teach their children differently. A little understanding goes a long way.

 

You don't understand, RS...most of us don't take this place with the same degree of solemnity you apparently do. I'm not getting paid to be everyone's therapist or advice columnist. So when new people, most of whom I'm willing to bet are under the age of 18, come in and ask these tedious questions, one of my coping mechanisms is to provide a somewhat flip reply, meant more to amuse than to insult. If all we did is provide straight, helpful responses, this place would be boring indeed.

 

Apparently we just have to disagree there. I can't say I take this as seriously as some may think I do, but I know I would appreciate helpful advice instead of passive aggressive insults. Chances are that a lot of the people here are underage, but I can't make that assumption. I also understand that it's not your job to give out advice, but then why would you open a thread so obviously asking for it? I don't care to see gay men together, so that's why I don't look at those threads. It would be wrong of me to do so just for the sake of being sarcastic or flippant.
