Driver involved in St Mary crash dies
ST MARY, Jamaica — The driver of the white Mercedes Benz C200 involved in a single-vehicle crash along the Rio Nuevo main road on Saturday has succumbed to his injuries.
Dead is 34-year-old carpenter Chad Beckford of a Stewart Town address in the parish. Beckford died on Monday at the Annotto Bay Hospital. The crash had also claimed the lives of three other passengers — Kenroy Fung, Brandon Nelson and Romario Grey.
According to the St Mary police, around 6:45 am on April 5, Beckford and the three passengers were travelling on the Rio Nuevo main road when, in the process of negotiating a right turn, he lost control of the vehicle which veered off the left side of the roadway, landed in the bushes and collided into a tree.
Initial reports indicated that all four men had died on the same day, however, the police have since clarified that Fung, Nelson, and Grey were pronounced dead at the Port Maria Hospital, while Beckford was admitted to the Annotto Bay Hospital with multiple injuries. He unfortunately succumbed to those injuries the following Monday.
