Successful Wish Week for 2024
The generosity of the community didn’t stop with the budget of R 33 936.19. An additional R 25 000 in donations was generously received.

The Round Table 47 Wish Week 2024 proved to be a remarkable success, bringing joy and relief to those in need in the Potchefstroom community. The project, which involved gathering and delivering wishes from the public, was a true testament to the collective effort and dedication.
While the initiative had its challenges, including the complexity of sourcing and assembling the necessary items for food parcels, the results were truly heartwarming. The Round Table fulfilled 66 wishes, including food parcels, school supplies, toys, and even a full cricket set for a young boy with a bright future in sports.
A Community-Driven Effort The Wish Week project focused on reaching those who needed support and often has no way to provide for themselves or their families.
“As convener of the project, I felt overwhelmed at times, but with the unwavering help of my fellow tablers Hannes Lourens, Gert Nel, and Herman, we were able to deliver meaningful support to those who truly needed it,” said Jean-Paul Olivier, a proud member.
The following gifts were delivered to various members of the community:
- 32 food parcels
- 6 stationary packages for children
- 5 PEP vouchers for older girls
- 7 play dolls
- 3 families received diapers
- 4 boys got toy cars and water guns
- 3 girls got makeup sets
- 1 Complete cricket set for a talented young boy
- A car service
- 2 girls got school uniforms
- Bed sheets and pillows
- A pair of comfortable shoes
The generosity of the community didn’t stop with the budget of R 33 936.19. An additional R 25 000 in donations was generously received.
“These contributions made it possible to fulfil even more wishes, allowing us to support individuals in various ways.”
Special Thanks
“This project wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible teamwork and commitment of all those involved. Special thanks go to John Ross Kelly for providing the vehicle to collect and helping me with shopping. Thanks to Mike, Randal, and Ronnie for going the extra mile in fulfilling a particularly special wish for a young boy in need of a cricket set. This boy, who has a scholarship to play for the Dragons Cricket team this year, may very well end up in the national team in the future A shining example of how a simple act of kindness can have lasting impacts,” said Olivier.
A Bright Future for Wish Week
“As we reflect on the success of Wish Week 2024, I’m filled with gratitude and optimism for the future. There’s a lot of potential to expand and improve the project in the coming years. With some new ideas and more community involvement, we can make Wish Week 2025 even bigger and more impactful. Thank you to everyone who contributed, whether through donations, volunteer time, or moral support. Together, we’ve proven that by working as a community, we can make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most,” Olivier concluded.
